Wireless Systems Operations
The course provides a comprehensive overview of both Data & Cellular Network Standards. The first part presents the IEEE 802.11 WLAN Standard with corresponding wireless fundamentals. The second part presents GSM and CDMA digital mobile radio systems. Topics included addresses new concepts in GSM & CDMA, dealing both with standardized features & technology improvements. The understanding of these provides a platform for the introduction of 3G & 4G technologies. Understand direct sequence spread spectrum and spreading codes; speech and channel coding; and the radio interfaces, including call flow, as well as physical, data link, and signaling layers. Finally, the discussions include IEEE 802.16 WiMax Standard and its associated operations, thus providing you with adequate background in both Data and Cellular systems.

3G AND 4G CELLULAR OPERATIONS
UMTS/LTE Operations: Network Architecture, Channels, Base Station Subsystem, Network Subsystem, Radio Link Aspects, Signaling, Interfaces, Mobility and call processing, Services, Coding & Modulation Schemes, Channels, Signaling, Power Control, System Capacity, Forward and Reverse Channels.
IEEE 802.16 (WIMAX) OPERATIONS
Broadband wireless access usage, summary of 802.16 standards, link budget and coverage examples, modulation methods, radio performance, advanced antenna systems, channel access, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA).
